Fowlescombe Aberdeen Angus wins the coveted gold award from the Taste of the West
As you may know the Taste of the West Food and Drink Awards 2004 is designed to highlight regional excellence in food and drink production. It is sponsored by South West Food & Drink For food and is open to producers in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire
Our entry was two simple pieces of entrecote steaks taken from one of our beef animals that had been treated no different to any other we sell. That is; raised on flower rich pastures, no fertilisers, rolling south Devon hills to climb to keep the animal fit, kept to a sensible age, slaughtered locally, hung properly for three weeks and expertly butchered.
"Excellent, I'm not surprised you took the gold medal, I collected some rump and fillet from Simon on Thursday which was first class. Congratulations.
All the best.
