The SW Aberdeen Angus club holds an important herd competition every 2 or 3 years. The categories are for large, medium or small herds of pedigree cattle. Most of the serious members go in for it, and this was our first attempt. Besides the possibility of winning, there is real value in getting a top judge to tell you abut your animals. Mr John Coultrip, who represents the South of England at the Angus Society meetings in Scotland came around some weeks ago, and then presented the prizes at the annual SW Aberdeen Angus Club dinner on 21st Nov 2004. (He is actually judging herds in Scotland this week) We were away on holiday when the herd was inspected but my stock man, John, took them around at a few minutes notice. They do like to see the animals in their 'working clothes' :-)

He said that we had a very good herd, some excellent individual animals from which we could grow in the future. We are delighted.
