Our meat business and our farms

The business sells award winning and very high quality Devon meat direct to homes and restaurants in Devon and the south of England. All the meat comes from animals of our own farms - so we know exactly how each animal was looked after. The animals are raised traditionally on flower rich pastures and run on the fields at low density. After slaughter at a local abattoir, we carry-on managing the process by using our own premises and butcher to produce meat that is well hung, expertly butchered and packed before delivery to your home, restaurant or hotel. No added preservatives, no colour, no E numbers and absolutely no hormones!!

The Deli Counter uses meat from our farms and is then prepared under the guidance of a top local Cordon Bleu chef

Just a line or two to say how very much my partner and I enjoyed the Aberdeen Angus joint of forerib on the bone which was purchased online from the Devon Meat Company. It had a taste and quality which I had almost given up hope of ever experiencing again, and which took me back to the beef I ate as a child, (some forty odd years ago, I'm afraid!).
It was the best Christmas lunch we have had for a long time, and I felt that I must congratulate you on the way that you have raised and produced your beef - the animals must have had very contented lives. We will be sampling the sirloin steaks for tonight's dinner, and look forward to ordering more in the near future.

Frost Farm

Frost Farm has also joined The Devon Meat Company to provide free range rare breed pigs. A fine Georgian country house (Grade II listed) acts as a centre for the farm. Splendidly sited, long farmland views are available across 140 acres of this `organic' farm - which are available to visitors to wander through fields and woods with badgers www.frostfarm.co.uk

Fowlescombe Farm

Fowlescombe Farm has a beauty of its own, and is often visited for its historical and environmental features. To maintain the ancient pasture land it is grazed in a traditional manner with pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle and rare breed Manx Loghtan and minority breed Hebridean sheep. The sheep normally lamb in April and enjoy eating not only the grass but the hedges and the apple trees, being expert at scrub control! www.fowlescombe.co.uk

Ley Farm

Ley Farm is noted for its sheep. The unploughed meadows support a large variety of grasses that, in turn, give nutritional support to some 2000 sheep. Lambs are born in February and March and ewes need the rich diet provided by their South Hams pastures to produce the milk to feed two hungry mouths. Top quality meat from our South Hams farms

The animals on each of our farms are brought up with animal welfare and the environment as key goals. Animals run free most of the year, are predominantly grass fed and the breeding stock stay on the farm for longer than normal life times. The animals that we sell have been humanly slaughtered at a local abattoir, well hung, expertly butchered and packed ready for delivery to you either locally or by courier. All the meat is made available insulated boxes boxes. We supply both fresh and frozen meat, either all of one type
