Supporting the environment
One of the key aspects of our business is a passionate belief that raising animals should be done in a manner that provides high animal welfare along with pro-active support for the environment. Both our farms are well know for their traditional South Hams appearance and traditional way of running them, that encourages wild life. On request both farms may be visited by appointment. Fowlescombe is more setup for this, as they employ a full time Environmental Officer who help the owners with hedgerow management, woodland creation and maintenance, pond reclamation, grassland management and the management of arable land to assist over wintering birds. Fowlescombe has many environmental visits each year from groups such as the Devon Wild Life Trust, the Barn Owl Trust, and others. See the web site for more details

Ley Farm
The unploughed meadows support a large variety of grasses that, in turn, give nutritional support to some 2000 sheep. The rolling landscape is typical of the South Hams. Ley farm has won the Bronze Otter award, presented by Devon FWAG for conservation.www.leyfarm.net
